Roughly speaking, the idea of (business) process is as traditional as concepts of tasks, department, production, outputs. The current management and improvement approach, with formal definitions and technical modeling, has been around since the early 1990s (see business process modeling). Note that in the IT community, the term 'business process' is often used as synonymous of management of middleware processes; or integrating application software tasks. This viewpoint may be overly restrictive. This should be kept in mind when reading software engineering papers that refer to 'business processes' or 'business process modeling.

Finding Your Business Management Style
Business management combines an interesting mix of theory and practice, and is a particularly good for business management and the types of study. Find a management style that suits your personality and the nature of your business is important and worthy of investment of time, being conscious of himself and be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches will allow the personal development more efficient and ultimately more effective management.

While many have their own individual styles of management, these are traditionally classified into three main categories of business management approaches.

Autocratic Management

First, is what has become known as the autocratic approach to the management, which installs more confidence in the leadership for the staff. It is pulling rank and employees leaves no doubt as to who is managing or what decisions are being made. Instead of engaging employees in decision-making process, this management style usually affects businesses that require direct leadership, effective to produce results, often under the pressure of working in a difficult environment. On hearing the term autocratic, many tend to view a dictatorial approach to management. While that is perhaps the case, it is rarely as severe as this and is often a necessary style of management, for example, in the armed forces or in a high-paced business environment, where there is no room for deliberation and consideration of the group.

Democratic Management

Moreover, there is a management style known as the democratic style, where employees are effectively engaged in consultation before taking decisions. While some consider this to be more motivating and more enjoyable to work under, it is equally true that their own drawbacks. employees to the floor could undermine the authority of management, and ultimately can lead to inefficiencies in the decision-making. It is also time intensive, and may not be as effective in large organizations with thousands of employees. But of course, a boardroom level of such decisions happen every day, is one that works most effectively in the slower pace of business where decisions can be fully deliberated and considered.

Laissez Fair Management

An alternative to these two styles of business management and the third major category is what is known as the laissez fair leadership style. This is, by definition, a more practical approach to management, which puts the trust to manage the business in the hands of the workers themselves, and allows a greater degree of autonomy than would be the case. While this is strong in creative industries, some business people find this type of management can lead to a fragmented approach to doing business and is less organized and perhaps less professional.
